Congratulations to CRT mentor/board member Malcolm Bund for being selected by The Wharton Graduate Emeritus Society to receive the prestigious Crandall Challenge Citation.
The Crandall Award, named in honor of Bob Crandall, the former CEO of American Airlines, recognizes senior Wharton alumni who draw upon their knowledge, talents, and experience to make significant contributions towards improving the community and national socio-economic quality of life through continuous and significant volunteer endeavors. Malcolm also received the Joseph Wharton Award, given to exceptional Wharton alumni who have made resounding and lasting contributions to the business world and to their communities.
The Crandall Award will be given to Malcolm in May 2022 in Philadelphia.
Wharton’s recognition was for Malcolm’s private equity group, which in 1998 started Vehicles for Change (VFC), a non-profit dedicated to providing transportation to working families in need. 23 years after inception, VFC has:
Provided over 8,000 vehicles to the needy, who have achieved 30% higher wages as a result of having their own transportation; and
Helped 180 released prisoners become auto mechanics through training and ASE certification. Several graduates of the VFC program are currently earning six figures.
Malcolm is also a key advisor to and board member of Kitchens for Good (KFG), which trains ex-offenders to work in the food service industry. Trainees take donated commodities to prepare meals for the homeless and the disadvantaged.
Currently in his fifth year as a Chairmen’s RoundTable mentor, Malcolm Bund is a retired industrialist with diverse experience in areas such as management consulting, corporate finance, M&A, and marketing. As a member of our Board of Directors, he serves as our Chief Financial Officer.
Beyond that, Malcolm is a big believer in civic involvement, supporting a range of organizations that benefit inner city youth and ex-offenders. He feels his calling includes supporting those who are less fortunate but are prepared to help themselves, and he’s willing to invest his time, wisdom, and personal resources to help make a difference.
